Frank Berrens is a project director and general manager. Inquisitive and analytical, he has a clear overview of long term processes and knows what client and stakeholders expect to reach the set goals.
Out of 39 working years, he gained 25 years of experience in various management teams in shipping and other transport related companies. He directed many challenging maritime projects all over the world – often at the verge of technical possibilities – to successful closure.
14 years as master and officer in the Dutch Merchant Navy a.o. gave him a broad range of experience in cargo shipping, offshore, salvage, towage and dredging as well as the sailing cruise industry and specifically heavy lift shipping. This last experience gave him the certainty that the inconceivable eventually will be realised through innovative ingenuity if this is managed in a risk controlled process, whilst always keeping a keen eye on the human side.
Since he wrote his thesis on “the navigation and economical aspects of modern sailing cargovessels” in 1983, he has never given up on the firm believe that this is one of the pragmatical ways forward to a more sustainable shipping industry.
Frank Berrens holds an MBA from the Heriott Watt University and a BSc of the Nautisch Instituut “de Ruyter”.
